Surviving a year of war: Life inside Gaza. On Assignment | ITV News

When Hamas militants stormed the Israeli border last year it left more than a thousand dead and hundreds would go on to be held hostage. Since then, Israel’s counter-offensive on Gaza has killed more than 40,000 people according to Hama’s health ministry. The bloody crisis has displaced thousands in Israel and nearly two million more in Palestine And caught up in it - youngsters - trying to navigate the conflict and continue to press forward with their lives. International media are denied access to Gaza, so working with local camera operators, we filmed with three young people who spoke to us about the last 12 months, and the impact the war has had upon them. The Israeli Defense Forces did not respond to our request for a statement addressing the issues discussed in the programme. In reference to the attacks against Al-Shifa hospital in November 2023, the IDF stated that their actions were based on "intelligence information” and that it was a "precise and targeted" operation against a Hamas’ "operational centre" at the hospital. Hamas rejected those claims. The IDF said, "Israel is at war with Hamas, not with the civilians in Gaza."
