Suspected arson at Montreal synagogue prompts police probe, widespread condemnation

Members of a Montreal-area Jewish community are reeling once again after a synagogue was allegedly firebombed overnight. It’s the second time the building has been targeted in just over one year. Jewish people were the most targeted religious group in Canada in 2023 despite representing just one per cent of the country’s population, according to Statistics Canada.
