Syria faces major undertaking in uniting diverse factions and forming new government: Analyst

Syria's new transitional prime minister Mohammed al-Bashir says it is time for "stability and calm" in the country, after nearly 14 years of conflict. He was appointed by rebel groups that overthrew longtime Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, and will run the country until Mar 1. Amy Austin Holmes, associate professor of government and public service at the Texas A&M University, tells CNA’s Asia First the transitional leadership faces a mammoth task in uniting the nation’s diverse ethnic and religious groups and forming a new government.
