T&T And India Sign Memorandum Of Understanding For Agro Processing Activities
India has pledged up to US$1 million to collaborate with Trinidad and Tobago in the field of agro-processing. A Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and the Government of India for Integrated Automated Fruit and Vegetable Processing was signed in the margins of the Second CARICOM-India Summit in Georgetown, Guyana on Wednesday. The MOU will pave the way for the creation of economic and employment opportunities in the field of agro-processing through the provision, by India, of up to US$1 million in financing and technical assistance to Trinidad and Tobago. Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Dr. Amery Browne, stated: "I had the honour of signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Foreign Minister of India, Shri Subramanium Jayshanka. This MOU provides modern agro-processing technology and equipment to Trinidad and Tobago from India." The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries through the National Agricultural Marketing and Development Corporation (NAMDEVCO).
