Medical scientists are harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to help speed up the screening process of tuberculosis patients. A mobile application that is still under development, records cough sounds from patients and then analyses it to determine if they require further testing for TB. Experts at Stellenbosch University’s Division of Molecular Biology and Human Genetics, and partners in Europe and Africa have recently received a R20-million grant from the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership for the project. eNCA reporter Kevin Brandt filed this report. #dstv403
