Teen HYPE’s “Two Detroits” play explores youth, identity and social divides in Detroit
Teen HYPE has a new theater production, “Two Detroits,” which tells the story of two teens from vastly different backgrounds navigating the same city and systemic inequities. The play delves into themes of privilege, education and zip codes. It explores how these factors can influence the lives of young people in Detroit and perpetuate division. “American Black Journal” host Stephen Henderson talks with Teen HYPE CEO Ambra Redrick and Youth Advisory Council Member Omega Clemons, a student at Detroit School of Arts, about “Two Detroits.” Subscribe to the Detroit PBS channel for more clips: https://www.youtube.com/@detroitpbs Enjoy full episodes of your favorite PBS shows anytime, anywhere with the free PBS Video App: https://www.detroitpbs.org/download-mobile-app/ Join the Detroit PBS Newsletter: https://www.detroitpbs.org/subscribe/ FOLLOW US: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/detroitpbs/ X (formerly known as Twitter): https://x.com/detroit_pbs Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/detroitpbs/
