The 'elimination' of Hezbollah and Hamas leaders 'impacts' the organisations
Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Birmingham says there needs to be a "concerted effort" into the next step in terms of providing "stability" and "security guarantees". Hamas leader and October 7 mastermind Yahya Sinwar has been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza. "Many of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders have been eliminated in recent times and clearly that does have an impact on the capacity of those organisations," Mr Birmingham told Sky News Australia. "There obviously needs to be a concerted effort into what comes next, in terms of how you provide stability and provide for the type of security guarantees that are necessary to secure a lasting peace. "It's why we [the Coalition] have been critical of some of the naive statements from the Albanese government ... to have a premature approach to a two-state solution."
