Imagine carrying a pregnancy for nine months only to give birth to a child perceived by some sections of society to be a curse, an outcast or even abnormal. But also imagine supporting such a child in their status so they can become important to society. This is what the Mother of Thomas Opio opted for her son who became a teacher breaking barriers to impart knowledge despite living with albinism. Here is UBC’s Henry Okurut.
