National Senator Matt Canavan discusses a Labor plan to bolster banking infrastructure in the Pacific by using an extra $6.3 million in Commonwealth funds to help counter Chinese influence. "I think the government has to get involved here, and this is an area where I will have some sympathy with the commercial business of our banks they can't be expected to bear on their balance sheets our entire national interest," Mr Canavan told Sky News Australia. "I do think there is a role here for the government to get more involved."
