A resounding defeat for conservatives. Labour’s win in the UK’s parliamentary elections ended 14 years of conservative government – securing two-thirds of the seats in the House of Commons. The landslide victory marked a huge turnaround for the party, four and-a-half years after Keir Starmer took over as leader, and less than five since Jeremy Corbyn led them to its worst defeat since the 1930s. We begin with this report from CGTN’s Michael Voss. To discuss: Klaus Larres is a history and international affairs professor with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. David Tereshchuk is a veteran journalist and commentator. Kevin Matthews is a history professor at George Mason University. Wayne Fitzgerald is the leader of Britain’s Peterborough City Council and Chair of the Peterborough Conservative Association.
