For more: https://www.cgtn.com/video What have been some of this year's main highlights, and what to expect from 2024 as 2023 draws to an end? In this year-end edition of the Hub, Wang Guan looks back at events that have shaped 2023, from international affairs to the more mundane yet heartwarming news. Global events continue to have major repercussions, as exemplified by the resumption of China-U.S. interactions that led to the Xi-Biden summit last November in San Francisco, but also by the expansion of the BRICS family and the deal at the COP28 to transition away from fossil fuels. The Asian Games held in Hangzhou have been the high point of China's sporting year, a treat for Wang Guan, who also interviewed Brazilian football great Kaká on his trip to China to promote village football. But tragedy also struck in 2023, with the Russia-Ukraine conflict soon about to enter its third year and the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict raging in Gaza. Wang Guan also remembers the departed, with clips from his interviews with former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and renowned architect Chien Chug Pei.
