The Australian Associate Editor Graham Lloyd says Julian Assange case was an “imperfect legal process”. WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has returned to Australia as a free man after pleading guilty to espionage in a plea deal to secure his release. “It’s disappointing really that it is an imperfect legal process,” Mr Lloyd told Sky News Australia. “A lot of the issues of free speech and other things weren’t properly tested. “The time spent in prison revolved around his refusal to accept extradition. “There wasn’t a big unpacking of that offense and how it relates to those broader issues of the media and free speech in a court of law.”
