Tourism and Transport Forum Chief Executive Margy Osmond claims the “longer-term brand damage” for New South Wales over the threat of industrial action on New Year’s Eve could be “quite significant”. This comes as there’s expected to be a shortage of more than 200 train drivers on New Year’s Eve due to industrial bans, which means potentially hundreds of services could be cancelled or delayed. NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb has shared her concerns about the planned industrial action on New Year’s Eve and left open the prospect of cancelling the fireworks. Revellers have already started cancelling accommodation bookings as Luna Park threatens legal action over the train strikes.
