The Quad will be ‘fine’ if Donald Trump is re-elected

The Australian Foreign Editor Greg Sheridan believes the Quad alliance will be “fine” if Donald Trump is re-elected as it was “doing fine” under his presidency during his first term. US President Joe Biden has said the Quad will last “way beyond” November’s presidential election. The leaders of the US, Japan, India and Australia have gathered in Mr Biden’s home state of Delaware for discussions aimed at ensuring security in the Indo-Pacific region. “I think the Quad will be ok [after the US presidential election],” Mr Sheridan told Sky News Australia. “The Quad was doing fine under Trump. “Biden has allowed the American system to operate, and it has continued on autopilot in favour of alliances. “Biden is an old-style Democrat who believes in alliances.”
