ANU astrophysicist and cosmologist Dr Brad Tucker discusses the Earth’s sun reaching peak solar energy. Scientists are expecting to see more solar storms now that the sun has reached the peak of its 11-year solar cycle. “During the 11 years, the sun essentially flips its magnetic poles,” Dr Tucker told Sky News Australia. “As this reverse happens, you get the most energy flowing through.” This can have negative implications on satellites, possibly damaging equipment or changing their orbit.
