‘There are risks’: Australia has to respond appropriately to global industry policy

Productivity Commission Deputy Chair Alex Robson has warned that Australia needs to respond appropriately to global industry policy developments as it can start to “look like protectionism”. “Although the rest of the world is engaging in more and more industry policy, for a country like Australia, we’re a small open economy,” Mr Robson told Sky News Business Reporter Edward Boyd. “There are risks in us trying to match that huge spending in the US, Europe and China.”
