“There were screams of children”: Magdeburg residents grieve after Christmas market attack
Residents of Magdeburg, Germany, spoke to reporters over the weekend about the fatal car attack that left five dead and more than 200 injured on Friday at a Christmas market. “There were screams of children,” one mother said, “It was terrible.” German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser has said that “the perpetrator – a Saudi Arabian doctor – was clearly Islamophobic,” with the head of the Magdeburg Public Proecutor’s Office saying, “it appears that the background to the crime may have been… dissatisfaction with the treatment of Saudi Arabian refugees in Germany.” After learning the alleged perpetrator was a Saudi Arabian doctor, far-right demonstrators staged a silent anti-migration protest through the streets of Magdeburg Saturday night. On the unraveling circumstances of the investigation, a local said, “This is actually a situation for the future where you have to check who comes here.” For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca/news/10930251/eu-germany-christmas-market/ Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Like Global News on Facebook HERE: http://bit.ly/255GMJQ Follow Global News on X HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on Instagram HERE: https://bit.ly/2QZaZIB #GlobalNews #Germany #Magdeburg
