Democratic National Committee chair candidate Marianne Williamson has commended former US president Jimmy Carter for his actions during the Iran hostage crisis. Mr Carter lived to be 100 years old, making him the longest-living former United States president. “When the American hostages were taken in Tehran, there was a lot of talk about him doing a Rambo type of action just going in there – everyone would have been killed,” Ms Williamson told Sky News Australia. “So, yes, they did not come back immediately, but they came back alive, and that to me was an example of how sometimes he felt that the sort of cowboy routine was not the best of what humanity had to show for itself and, obviously, has not been the best foreign policy and would not have been at that time.”
