TikTok is facing new lawsuits filed by 13 U.S. states and the District of Columbia on Tuesday, accusing the popular social media platform of harming and failing to protect young people. The lawsuits, which were filed separately in New York, California, the District of Columbia and 11 other states, expand Chinese-owned TikTok's legal fight with U.S. regulators, and seek new financial penalties against the company. The states accuse TikTok of using intentionally addictive software designed to keep children watching as long and often as possible and misrepresenting its content moderation effectiveness. “TikTok has knowingly exploited our young people for profit. It's really that simple. They have chosen profit over the health of our children, over a whole generation of young people,” California Attorney General Rob Bonta said. “And youth addiction is a key and central pillar to TikTok's business model. And let me just say, TikTok has been wildly successful in their business model.” For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca/news/10800324/us-states-dc-sue-tiktok/ Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Like Global News on Facebook HERE: http://bit.ly/255GMJQ Follow Global News on X HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on Instagram HERE: https://bit.ly/2QZaZIB #GlobalNews #TikTok #US
