Tornado touches down in southwestern Ontario town, Ayr residents clean up trail of destruction

Cleanup is underway in Ayr, Ont., after a powerful tornado touched down Saturday in the southern Ontario community. The storm left a trail of downed trees and power lines, and tore portions of walls and roofs off buildings, according to North Dumfries Mayor Sue Foxton. A day later, residents are assessing the damage left behind by the tornado and processing the shock. “You can’t imagine until it happens to you,” said North Humpfries fire Chief Robert Shantz.
