People living on a quiet tree-lined street in Toronto, Ont., were shocked and saddened after an older couple were fatally stabbed over the weekend in what police are investigating as an apparent murder-suicide. Police said they received a call for a person with a knife in the area around 3 p.m. local time on Sunday. When officers arrived, two people were found inside a residence with stab wounds and later died, acting Duty Insp. Jeff Bassingthwaite said. Both were in their 80s and were taken to hospital on Sunday, where life-saving efforts were unsuccessful. “There are no outstanding suspects and we believe that the person responsible is one of the deceased located inside the home,” Const. Shannon Eames said in an email to Global News on Monday. Neighbours have identified the couple to Global News as Robert Miller and his wife Ulrike Miller, known as Rikki. The couple had two sons and had lived inside the two-storey home for 30 to 40 years. Global's Catherine McDonald has the details.
