Trans Athlete Battle at San Jose State Escalates National Debate

The women's volleyball team at San Jose State University is putting a spotlight on transgender athletes in an unexpected way. The school suspended its assistant coach for joining a federal lawsuit against the NCAA. The suit focuses on a reported trans athlete who plays for the coach. Associate Head Coach Melissa Batie-Smoose, of the San Jose State Spartans women's volleyball team, is under indefinite suspension after filing a Title IX complaint against the school. She says that player Blaire Fleming is transgender and should not be allowed to play. "Safety is being taken away from women, fair play is being taken away from women, we need more and more people to do this and fight this fight because women's sports as we know it right now will be forever changed," said Smoose to Fox News.
