Transforming agrifood systems

A nineteen-point plan has been formulated as Barbados moves towards enhancing technical and innovative capacity in the transformation of agrifood systems. Tanzanian international food expert Yahya Mgawe made the revelation during a workshop in the conference room of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security. It is part of a UN Food and Agricultural Organisation project, of which Barbados is to receive US $0.5 million with three other small island developing states (SIDS) Africa and the Pacific. The UN FOA's Fishery and Aquaculture Officer Dr. Yvette Diei Ouadi told the workshop, steady progress is being made with the project and Government should sign papers in May next year.
