Responding to a question about the federal government reportedly not being aware of any evidence linking Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to alleged criminal activity in Canada, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in Brampton, Ont., on Friday that those “leaking top secret information to the media” were “criminal” as well as “unreliable.” “Criminals leaking top secret information to the media have consistently gotten those stories wrong. That's why we had a national inquiry into foreign interference,” Trudeau said. “My primary job as a Canadian leader is to keep Canadians safe in everything we have done.” In response to another question about meeting leaders such as U.S. President Joe Biden and Modi at the recent G20 summit, Trudeau said that he had an “excellent” one-on-one sit-down with Biden and that Canada will continue to work with “all partners” to defend the rule of law, keeping people safe, and growing prosperity.
