Trudeau faces questions over Trump tarrifs, Canada Post strike in Parliament | LIVE
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will face questions from opposition MPs following U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's announcement he would impose a 25 per cent tariff on all products coming into the u.S. from Canada and Mexico. Trudeau said Tuesday he had a "good call" with Trump and that he has been in contact with several premiers, including Ontario's Doug Ford and Quebec's Francois Legault, and a first ministers' meeting will be held this week to talk about the U.S. The Liberal government is also facing pushback following Trudeau's announcement of a "tax holiday" where the GST and HST would be fully removed from qualifying goods for two months starting on Dec. 14. Meanwhile, a federal mediator has temporarily suspended mediation efforts between Canada Post and its workers' union as a nationwide strike drags into Day 13. Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon has called a meeting of both parties on Wednesday.
