Trudeau’s experience with Trump a valuable commodity at APEC summit
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's past experience with U.S. president-elect Donald Trump — avoiding a prolonged tariff war and signing a new trade deal -- has made him a valuable commodity at the two summits of world leaders he will attend over the next week. Senior Canadian government officials confirmed as much in a background briefing this week, telling reporters, “Absolutely. Donald Trump’s election will change some of the conversations.” Canadian officials expect world leaders will focus on Trump’s claims on tariffs, the war in Ukraine, NATO and global security.
