Trump administration deports alleged gang members under Alien Enemies Act despite court orders
After a federal judge temporarily blocked an effort by President Donald Trump to use the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, the Trump administration deported hundreds of immigrants to El Salvador alleging they are members of a Venezuelan gang. However, it’s unclear whether any of the deportees had already landed in El Salvador before the judge’s ruling or whether the Trump administration defied the order.
