United States Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump went head-to-head on Tuesday (Sep 10) in their first – and possibly only – presidential debate. The candidates clashed over issues such as immigration, foreign policy and healthcare, but the debate was light on specific policy details. Timothy J Lynch, professor of American politics from the University of Melbourne, says Harris won the debate “much more decisively than many people imagined”.
