U.S. supporters and protesters of Donald Trump rallied across the country this week, after he made history as the first former U.S. president convicted of a crime. Some supporters wore red "Make America Great Again" caps and called for him to be free, while others shouted, “Lock him up!” and celebrated the convictions. “I'm so pleased that there's finally some accountability for Donald Trump,” anti-Trump demonstrator Susan Ryan said from New York City. “It wasn't just the porn star sex case, it was an election interference case. And did he do it or not? The jury said yes.” In Florida, Trump supporter Justin Neverus said that his first reaction was “sadness for America and sadness for Trump. At the end of the day, it's only going to increase his support.” Meanwhile, supporter Heather Dowling described the U.S. as a “third world country right now” and feared that what happened to Trump could “happen to any of us.” On Thursday, a New York jury found Trump guilty of a scheme to cover up a hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels to aid his political ambitions. Trump said Friday he would appeal the guilty verdict, though he will have to wait until after his sentencing on July 11 to do so.
