United States Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem on Sunday spoke about Canada’s push for border security and the hopes of stopping U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods. President Donald Trump has tied tariffs to what he says are “massive” amounts of fentanyl that is coming through the Canada-U.S. border. “Canada just recently is starting to allow us to access some of their criminal background histories that we need in order to know who's coming across our border and what they're bringing,” Noem said. “[Canadian officials] were hoping to avoid the tariffs and had a lot of conversations but not a lot of action,” the U.S. homeland secretary said. Noem also said the U.S. needs “access to their criminal background system so that we know when someone crosses that northern border who they are, why they're in our country and who they may be partnering with. We also need them to work with us on identifying packages.” For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca/news/11073708/trump-tariffs-canada-mexico-increase/ Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Like Global News on Facebook HERE: http://bit.ly/255GMJQ Follow Global News on X HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on Instagram HERE: https://bit.ly/2QZaZIB #GlobalNews #trumptariffs
