Trump threatens Denmark with tariffs over Greenland's potential statehood for US

US President-elect Donald Trump threatened Denmark with tariffs if it resisted joining the United States for “national security". “We’re going to have to see what happens because we need this for national security, we need Greenland very badly,” Mr Trump said. “The people of Greenland would love to become a state of the United States of America. “Denmark maybe doesn't like it … maybe things have to happen with respect to Denmark having to do with tariffs. “They have to do this for the free world.”
