Trump won't rule out military, economic action to acquire Greenland

U.S. president-elect Donald Trump declined on Monday to rule out military or economic action as part of his avowed desire to have the U.S. acquire the Danish territory of Greenland. Trump said the U.S. needs Greenland for “economic security." The extraordinary statement came as Trump further outlined an expansionist agenda, two weeks before he is sworn into office at the Jan. 20 inauguration in Washington. Meanwhile, his son Donald Trump Jr. arrived in Greenland's capital Nuuk for a private visit on Tuesday. "Just here as tourists, seeing it looks like an incredible place. We've been talking about going for a while. I was actually supposed to be here last spring for some of the stuff I do in my free time but just really excited to be here. Awesome country,” he told reporters. And Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on Tuesday only people of Greenland can determine the island's future after Trump Jr. arrived in Greenland. “Greenland is not for sale,” she said.
