Russians interviewed by Reuters on Friday in Moscow's city centre said they took a great interest in an interview given by Russia's President Vladimir Putin with conservative talk show host Tucker Carlson on the Tucker Carlson Network. "Whoever wants to, will find the interview and watch it. They will draw their own conclusions. But the majority of (the Western) population, unfortunately, will not watch it. But I hope they do," Moscow resident Tamara said. The interview was released Friday at 2 a.m. Moscow time, Many said were aware of the interview and others even said they watched it in its entirety. The interview became top news on Russia's largest TV channels and was widely covered. Putin's interview marked the first time the Russian leader has spoken to an American media outlet since before the start of what Russia calls a "special military operation" in Ukraine. In the video said to be recorded on Tuesday, Putin devoted a large part of the interview to claims that Ukraine had almost agreed to a deal to end hostilities in April 2022.
