TV reporter's emotional tribute to mother as death toll from Bondi stabbing rises

Sky News host Laura Jayes has given an emotional tribute to the death of a mother who was killed in the Westfield Bondi Junction stabbing. The death toll of the Bondi attack has risen to seven including the offender. Ms Jayes described the victim as an “incredible person”. “She was incredible and if you have a new baby like that … you are still well and truly in the newborn phase, you are with that baby all the time,” Ms Jayes said. “I can’t imagine her needing to hand over the most precious thing in her life and they both went into surgery, her husband not knowing if either of them survived. “She was an incredible athlete, she was so smart, she was so beautiful, and she was just so excited to be a new mother and all of that was ripped away in seconds.” The mother’s nine-month-old newborn was also stabbed in the attack, undergoing surgery, and remaining in hospital.
