Typhoon Shanshan makes landfall in Japan as millions ordered to evacuate

At least three people have been killed as Typhoon Shanshan made landfall in southern Japan on Thursday morning. It’s being considered the country’s strongest tropical storm in decades. So fierce, in fact, that five million people have been ordered to evacuate the region. On top of the casualties, the typhoon has already left 200,000 locals without power and injured dozens. Though Shanshan gradually lost strength, it’s forecasted to bring high-speed winds, intense waves and torrential downpour to a majority of Japan by this weekend.
