UCDA to be rationalized through thick and thin - Parliament applies rare voting mode to consider

Parliament has considered a report to allow a three-year transition period for the Uganda Coffee Development Authority as it fulfils the agenda of Rationalization. This was after a heated debate after a section of the opposition Members resisted the transfer of the functions of UCDA into the Ministry of Agriculture. The house was pushed to borrow a rare option of voting dubbed the DIVISION LOBBY to enhance transparency after over 40 MPS contested the popular voting mode. 159 MPS voted in favour of the report against 77 who disputed the majority views. The position to accord UCDA a three-year transition period was reached at after the interaction between President Yoweri Museveni and the stakeholders.
