Uganda’s mining industry - Stakeholders decry mining policy for delayed mining licensing

Artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) in Uganda remains a vital economic sector, employing around 600,000 people and contributing significantly to the country's mining output. Recent discussions at a workshop organized by Africa Centre for Energy and Mineral Policy, TrustAfrica, and Southern Africa Resource Watch focused on the status of Uganda's domestication of the African Mining Vision of 2009, emphasizing the challenges faced by ASM operators.
