UK election expected to be a 'catastrophe' for the Conservative Party

Former foreign minister Alexander Downer has joined Sky News host Chris Kenny to discuss the UK general election as voters head to the poll. Mr Downer predicted a "catastrophic" outcome for the Conservative Party when the results come through on election night. It comes as opinion polling has consistently shown Labour with a commanding 20-point lead over the governing Tories. "I think it will be a catastrophe for the Conservative Party," Mr Downer said. "They won 365 seats at the last election, which was in 2019, the expectation is that they will win around 100 seats this time. "So it will be a massive loss for them and Labour will end up with such a big majority."
