A coordinated military strike between the UK and United States against Houthi rebels has reportedly been authorised by Rishi Sunak and is likely to take place tonight, ITV New understands, following attacks by the Iran-backed force in the Red Sea. The prime minister had earlier on Thursday called an emergency meeting of his full Cabinet to discuss the ongoing situation in the key global shipping route. Houthi rebels, in recent weeks, have claimed attacks on ships in the Red Sea, which they say are either linked to Israel or heading to Israeli ports.
