Ukraine accuses Russia of firing intercontinental missile for 1st time

Ukraine accused Russia of firing an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) at Dnipro on Thursday — a weapon designed for long-distance nuclear strikes that has never before been used in war. "If it is confirmed that precisely an intercontinental ballistic missile was used, then we believe that it can be said that Putin's Russia has degraded to the status of North Korea — which from time-to-time, fairly regularly fires such missiles — frightening its neighbours, frightening the world,” Ukrainian foreign ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi said. Meanwhile, three U.S. officials have disputed Ukraine's claim, saying that it was an intermediate range ballistic missile with a smaller range than an ICBM, according to reports from Reuters.
