Ukraine defence systems destroy dozens of Russian drones launched over Kyiv

Russia, once again, launched a series of attack drones in Kyiv early Thursday morning. Of the 38 deployed, Ukrainian air defence systems destroyed 25, Ukraine’s Air Force chief confirmed. "Last night, the enemy used 38 Shahed-131/136 attack drones, attacking Ukrainian infrastructure in several areas, including the south of Odesa region and central Ukraine," the commander said. Footage capturing some of the attacks shows the Ukrainian defence systems in action, as searchlights scan the sky and air raid sirens blared out over the capital. This attack comes 31 months after Russia invaded Ukraine, triggering the ongoing war between the neighbouring nations. Regarding the potential for peace talks, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Thursday said, “Russia in general is open to the negotiation process,” but first needs clarification on “how ready the Ukrainian side is” to settle the war.
