The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will meet Friday afternoon to discuss multiple waves of attacks inside Lebanon in which thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah exploded over two days, killing a combined 37 people and wounding roughly 3,000 others. Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said Thursday that the attacks "crossed all red lines" and vowed "punishment" against Israel, further stoking fears of an all-out war between the two Middle Eastern Powers. The attacks come as Israel has warned it could launched a stepped-up military operation against Hezbollah. Overnight, the Israeli military said it struck several militant sites in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah and Israeli forces have continued to launch daily cross-border strikes throughout Israel's 11-month conflict with Hamas, which Hezbollah seeks to put an end to.
