UN Security Council pass Gaza resolution

The United Nations Security Council has passed a resolution to boost aid into Gaza. 13 of the council's 15 members voted for the motion. The United States and Russia were the only two nations who abstained from the vote. The resolution does not call for an immediate ceasefire but does lay the groundwork for more aid to enter Gaza. After choosing to abstain from the vote, the US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas Greenfield spoke on the severity of the situation in Gaza. Russia attempted to include an amendment to the resolution calling for a suspension of hostilities.
