UNHCR calls on global community to increase support for Uganda's 1.7 million refugees

In a related development, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi has implored the International community to boost relief donations to Uganda to enable the government sustain over 1.7 million refugees. Uganda is Africa's biggest refugee hosting nation, but the government is struggling to meet the demands of these refugees. The call came during the UNHCR chief's visit to Rwamwanja refugee settlement in Kamwenge district where more than ninety nine thousand refugees live.
