UNRWA official: No plan B for Palestinian refugees in Lebanon as funds dry up
Around 200,000 Palestinian refugees live in Lebanon, mostly in 12 official camps across the country. They receive considerable support from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) in terms of education, healthcare and social services. But with funds drying up after a number of Western countries cut aid to the UN agency following claims that some of its members took part in the Hamas attack against Israel on October 7 last year, the situation of UNRWA Lebanon is looking grim. "Unfortunately, we don't have a Plan B if we do not get funding by the end of this month," said Ibrahim El Khatib, chief area officer, during an exclusive interview with China Media Group from the Lebanese city of Saida.
