UPDF takes over construction of Soroti University

The Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) has taken over the construction of the stalled multi-billion shilling Anatomy Block at Soroti University. On January 27th, 2021, Soroti University signed an agreement with RUP Engineering Group Ltd for the construction of the Anatomy Block. The first phase, valued at Shs 5.1 billion, was expected to be completed by May/June 2023. However, the project stalled for over a year and a half due to financial constraints and the contractor's inadequacies, among other issues.
