US focuses on hostage release over ceasefire in Gaza: Former Egyptian official

Hussein Haridy, Former Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister and former Egyptian Ambassador to Spain and Pakistan, joins Al Jazeera's live from Cairo. He explains that the US is prioritizing a diplomatic solution focused on the release of hostages, especially those with dual Israeli-American citizenship, with a target date before the upcoming US presidential elections on November 5th. Haridy notes that while there is strong US advocacy for securing the hostages' freedom, there appears to be no push for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
