US scientists sound alarm over invasive spotted lanternflies

Spotted lanternflies, which are native to China and Vietnam, have become an invasive species in other parts of the world including Japan, South Korea and the United States. They have now spread to 17 US states – and while experts say they are harmless to humans, they pose a danger to crops such as apples, blueberries, grapes and hops.
