US urged to assist in stemming flow of illegal guns

Barbadians gathered at Kensington Oval in their numbers to celebrate Barbados' 58th anniversary of Independence and third anniversary as a Republic. The day commenced with the ceremonial Independence Day Parade with 19 armed and unarmed detachments on parade. Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley in her address stressed Barbadians are a resilient people, confronting the climate crisis and the high cost of living among other issues. She says citizens are also paying a heavy price for the Second Amendment Right of the United States. Ms. Mottley admits 2024 has not been an easy one and has encouraged citizens to stand tall. She wants Barbadians to have respect for self and others.
