The University of the West Indies has been advised that it must address the financial situation it faces, in order to maintain its ability to provide world-class education. Principal of the UWI Five Islands Campus, Professor Justin Robinson revealed that while Caribbean governments contributed approximately 237.85 million U.S. dollars during the 2013 financial year, that figure declined 10 years later. He says it's no cheap endeavour, noting the university operates in the same economy as the rest of the Caribbean. Professor Robinson's comments came during his induction ceremony in Antigua and Barbuda. Principal and Pro Vice Chancellor of UWI Cave Hill, Professor Clive Landis acknowledged the strides made by Professor Robinson in his academic journey, including his role at the Cave Hill Campus. He sees him as an ideal principal for UWI's five islands.
